    Hello DP,

I was going to try out some viral marketing through the use of a successful rapper to come out with lyrics about the services I offer along with pricing. What do you guys think of this idea? I am unsure whether to try it as the impression some customers may get of this is that it could be unprofessional?

I wouldn't go that route. Hot babes would work better. GoDaddy and Danica Patrick can be an example. You already have a little fatso representing your service (which can be a turn-off in itself) adding a rap promotional may hurt your sales.

Your idea is original, but it might not work. Some people don't like rap music, while others may not appreciate your idea. Some will love it - but I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

About the mascot, I liked the concept the designer came up with. I feel that he is friendly and is also wearing a superhero cape which makes him even more effective. Perhaps you should try out a mascot before calling it a fatso :)

Sometimes in life, you don't know what to do. That's the same case with business. Go with your heart and do it. At worst, the experience you'll get is worth it. Because one day or the other, you'll feel life is TOO SHORT to NOT try and keep asking for guidance and wondering what to do. Sometimes we really need to bring out our best and take risk. Best of luck friend!

Who is this rapper you are speaking of? If you have someone like Snoop, Dre, Ice Cube, hell even Eminem, that would actually boost you really well...

Well, since he is going to use a rapper, I'd think the next logical step in an advertisement is put in some ho's (No offense...) But if you're not, I'd suggest that you actually do so. :D

Just see what happens. Go all balls in and do it :D

if you have access to a successful rapper, I would take advantage and come up with a unique way to tie him into your website.

@Jordan If you pull that stunt off as a viral video, that'll be preeeetty freakin epic! I've NEVER seen a web hosting site go down the rapper route but you could give it a try...just make sure it doesn't turn out painfully cheese or cringe-worthy!!

I understand everything about mascots. They are great. Take hostgator, for instance, they have a gator with cool shades basking in the sun. The motto says: We eat up the competition.

Here's an example of agility and boisterousness and yet calm, sure power - all at the same time. Instant trust.

Your mascot represents some sort of geekiness wrapped in a cape. When I see it, I can't help thinking about The Big Bang Theory show. I don't think you want your service to be associate with a couch potato, who happens to be a geek and who pictures himself as a superman. What would make it even funnier, if you put this motto underneath: Competition, here I come!

I know it's not your intent to make people think/feel that way, but that's what is going to happen (at least for some).

By the way, I am not trying to be insulting or anything like that here. I am sorry if I come across as very straightforward. You don't have to listen to me, but I believe if you're serious about your service and want it to have a competitive edge in the years to come, you should start thinking competitively, seeing a bigger picture.

Don't worry I didn't take it as an insult at all and genuinely do appreciate your advice, so are you suggesting I put a motto underneath him to make it more humorous?

Well, if your intent is to stick with the mascot, then yes, make it even more humorous:

This is the issue, I have changed mascot once already. I am never really happy with them for some reason. I was thinking maybe some sort of robot called Original. It's just I've already had one before this guy.

I don't know. All I know is a mascot, in this case, should represent trustworthiness, reliability and strength. If you can figure out what can combine all three of those - you will get a great looking/working mascot.
