people are spreading my blog posts virally and I'm getting traffic everyday from it without doing anything; you need to think outside the box a little and see what other people are doing to create a viral message or video

 

Viral marketing is like every other kind of marketing. If you have a great idea that gets your target market excited, the idea will take off (i.e. people will share it). If your idea is yet another 'me too' attempt to cash in on something that has already had it's day, your success will be limited to your own energy, experience, existing networks and perseverance.

Viral marketing is directly reliant on your ability to create something people want to share. If you're relying on a payment plan, money making scheme or similar - you can expect fairly mundane results (i.e. same old same old). Such an approach can only work if people have reason to believe your particular system will definitely work (i.e. reputation, good PR, know the right people).

The best viral marketing these days is done by well-heeled corporates who invest large sums in coming up with fun things that people pass on to others. Whether this does the corporate any good is another discussion.

I wish you well, and hope you do come up with something new and unique that does the trick for you. You'll also need to give thought to lead generation (landing page, conversion system, measurement).

I see like many are saying on here it is hard to make something go viral.

but viral marketing can work and be huge.

google "IMBUZZ"

these guys get huge traffic and sales mostly viral.
when you get their software you "brand" it with your affiliate id and when someone buys from the add you get paid and so does the "IMBUZZ creators"

use them as a base for your idea and expand just don't copy copying things like this don't usually work.

I have a few pieces of software from them and it is a great thing they have going.

I dunno, in my personal experience watching viral videos that are meant to market a product or person, the product or the person is usually already famous. By being famous you can have a huge advantage in viral videos. Otherwise you have to put alot of effort and thought into making a viral video that stands out among the rest and gets alot of youtube views.

 

Yeah, I think we are still on the ground floor for this.

 

The thing with viral marketing is that it can be utilized by anyone and anywhere, no matter which demographic that you are trying to reach, you can go anywhere and everywhere without actually having to worry about anything
