Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to the whole scene, so i wont badger you with what i'm trying to do or who, i've only got a simple question a few years ago as you might know, a few movies as well as alot of Ebooks made the scene based on Viral marketing, my question is does Viral marketing work for everything? =]

I will let you know when I find out. I have a similar question posted in the link development forum. I found a site that facilitates this and am testing it now. You are welcome to join me in the test - the link is the third one in my signature. Its free and if it works great if not... Well then you know, lol. The concept is similar to any of the multilevel marketing programs out there. Your success depends on whether you get a downline that is charged or one that just goes through the process and expects it to work. Obvioiusly it is a great way for them to collect emails, but if you are like me then they get an email that I can dump if they get to be a pain. I would be interested to hear if anyone here has tried it with success. I just started and have a few people signed up with me but nobody under them.

Interesting, i'll try to look it up, but like i said it's a gamble, and it's something i'm trying to see would work out. Thank you for your interest.

Viral marketing works really good. Problem part is coming up with a plan that would go viral. However you can try with easy methods like building some useful tools.

Viral Marketing is something a little too different from the regular methods of marketing though the main advantage that you might gain with it is that you'll probably find that the users that you get will be more likely to be actually interested in the content or niche of whatever your making :)

    That question cannot be answered.

    Viral marketing in which form?

Word of mouth? ... Social networks? ...

And on what kind of a website?

If you are talking about social networks, and on building traffic from them, then, no, it does not work.

Run an experiment to find out on your own.

What of Word of Mouth? That does tend to work in some cases, I've seen it in action, provided that the niche or factor in projection is suitable to public demand etc :)

Only works if you have the right niche, targeted at people who are likely to help you go viral, and you have something worth people spreading about in the first place.

Absolutely :D There is a free report which you can download about viral marketing on my signature. You need a step by step plan and proven system to really make it work. In addition, yes a one of the fellows above mentioned it that you need people who is willing to help you out on your campaign.

These people can be Affiliates with huge email list and Joint Venture Partners who is willing to provide fast traffic to your website. Then, focus on your long term traffic methods.

Yes, to answer your question, Viral marketing is Very Deadly and it works. Plan it, try it, use it, do it. Awesome.

I agree (as I've not really made anything viral yet). I've taken hours thinking of something which might sell but have always come up short. Even my digg submissions don't get anything higher than 5.

If someone has had relative success on viral marketing, by all means let everyone here know. We'd more than appreciate it.

You can't get good word of mouth going without a lot of traffic. And you can't get a lot of traffic without first advertising.

In my opinion it will only work if:
    1. You make something extremely funny
    2. You get a lot of traffic

Both of those rules go hand in hand, you can't have one without the other.
That being said. It is really hard to capture what is the next hilarious deed, so you can try and try and try again. But I doubt you will succeed. There are thousands of videos uploaded every day and it seems like only 1 or 2 are really any good... so I would say no, it is not effective.

Well It can work for small and start-up businesses, as well. the planning stage of a viral campaign will set out objectives and develop the viral theme for a buzz.
