Hi folks Before the recent update "any" site I launched had at least some rankings once indexed... for example I could take a long tailed keyword "unique" to my site and I would rank for it in google.. Since the update 2 new sites have just got indexed, about 6-7 pages each with 3-5 inbounds.... Both have Long tailed keywords for the domain... in the last 2 days both sites have been indexed but "neither" rank for a "single" term and I mean they rank for "zero" keywords..... they do not even rank for their long tail domain names or the unique copyright phrase...... I have never in all my years had this.. Anyone else noticing the same ? [ both domains are .co.uk ] Kindest regards David..
I welcome this change. I think it is illogical to automatically give new websites good rankings. That is basically just Google saying 'we have no idea what is relevant, so try this new website'. A website should be established with good backlinks before they get rankings. It makes it fair for everyone. Without this change, spammers will just keep throwing up junk websites to just target one long tail keyword....no offence to you David.
None Taken Vansterdam.. Thing is though my sites are 100% targetted at the keywords and are aimed at a business I am involved with, we are "not" posting affiliatte links.. we even have phone numbers up etc..... Regards David
But why should you rank above the other websites when your website is brand new with few links? Rankings should be earned, not just given out to unproven websites.
I always thought that new sites would normally fall into a "sand box". That means, Google would wait and see how a site were developing itself.
I agree with vansterdam. But what is odd is that they don't rank for the "long tail domain names"...especially if the domains aren't something that would be searched. However if they are "domain-names-that-are-keyword-strings.co.uk" then I understand why Google is doing this.
I don't dispute the logic of google or its reasons, its just my own system has worked amazingly well for over a year, then when things stop it's a bit of a shock to the system...
I certainly understand. I would wait a week or so to see if things return to normal. Google has been shaking up the SERP's lately. It may be temporary...a Google Dance if you will.
