    Hey guys,

Just seen the new domains which will be available soon. What do you think to them? Will they be popular or will everyone still want to common.com or .co.uk? Are they worth getting one?

A few popular ones seem to be:
    • .blog
    • .web
    • .mail
    • .online
    • .shop
    • .site
    • .app
    • .cloud
    • .football
    • .london
    • .website
    • .wales
    • .wedding
    • .band
    • .limited
    • .cricket
    • .rugby
    • .cymru
    • .ltd
    • .scot
    See them all here: https://www.1and1.co.uk/ntld-check

.com, .net and .org along with some regional domain extensions such as .co.uk will always be the most popular domain extensions in my opinion, it's too late to change that.
Generic extensions such as .info, .biz or .mobi have been around for a while and still aren't very popular (I remember .info's were so low in price they were practically giving them away!), I don't see any of these other extensions changing that - people tend to like short and neat domain extensions. Occasionally some extensions have a bit of a trend (like .io with startups currently) but in the end I think most people revert back :)

Do you think one day people will have to start using more of these domains as surely the .com and .co.uk etc will eventually run out?

Well you didn't ask me, but I think that they will eventually run out, and in fact you do see many websites today with alternative extensions because they can find nothing that will fit their purpose for their website. I know that I, personally, will throw my hands up and buy an alternative extension simply because EVERY name I can think of to name a website for a particular purpose is taken or $15K at auction. People got used to alternative area codes, they will become accustomed to alternative domain extensions as well, particularly as time marches on and older people who are used to .com continue to get older and younger people enter into the marketplace. That said, I think any business that can get a unique name will always choose a .com extension.

Totally agree. I have also thought of some great names for some of my online ideas but every time they are taken.

Does anyone have any experience when you bid for it when it expires? I think Go daddy do something like it.
