So i have this new options on my adsense to set up for video units. I configured a player, man that thing is huge. It also hasn't listed a single relevant video yet and I specificed news/politics. It's showing ridiculous videos. my site is a news site and I didn't want these dumb videos, but I'm hoping it will settle in after awhile. So my question is this. How do I know when I make money on this thing? Furthermore, I couldn't find much info at all on how this makes me money to begin with. It's also not listed in the adsense reports. Does anyone have a good understanding of this? I tried to click a 'help' link and it took me to a beautiful 404 page. (http://www.youtube.com/adsense_players) is what it pointed to.
Well I figured that part out. Video Units started showing up as a channel in my adsense. I'm not going to use this right now because they clearly do not have the association of content down, but once that's figured out I'm going to use it.
We are running it on one site right now... So far no clicks... it is not clear that the ads that show are clickable... they just kind of sit on the top and bottom of the player... So you are basically giving ads away for free kind of... I was hoping it would be a "per-view" system... but it does not appear to work that way...
If the video units go "pay per view" then I am all over this. If not, I have something way better going on with adsense and youtube (videohome.us). That site is bringing in roughly 20$ a day with just youtube/adsense going for it. If video units can do that for me then I will change to it, but as it stands I don't think it will be that great.
you might want to read this thread before you explain how great that is. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=509870
When there is way to get a specific video you want I might think about using it! The ads aren't relevant enough either
I think when we put video ad units on our page. The page will load slowly in many countries. Anyway how much you are earning from video units. can anyone post it here.
The size of the video player is just too big for me to fit into my layout right now (I even chose the smallest one possible).
yeah that's my problem too. I could use this though. I'm going to redesign one of my smaller blogs and use it. the problem is you can't just stick this in there. you need to design the site around it because it's so big.
I'd say to everyone, just relax and give Google & YouTube some time to perfect the new ad unit. As more time goes on, and they get more video publishers involved, there will increasingly be more relevant videos to choose from.
I have started to use it and so far it looks pretty good in terms of video quality and ad relevance - the cpm is pretty acceptable too.
Is it PPC or a CPM type of thing for the advertisements ran and what type of payouts are we looking at? Also, do you know if you can pick which youtube videos that it plays? I am not using it, but would be interested in knowing. Has anyone got any stats on it as of yet?
I received an email from google introducing about video units but I am not sure how to do it and what benefit it is so I am still waiting for a good advice. Thanks.
I set up my video unit to show relevant content...I didn't watch it for a couple weeks...I came back and all it was playing various videos fo teh same guy playing the piano...WTF?! I spent an hour reloading the identicle code over and over again and got it working correctly but I have no faith in video units now to deliver relevant content.
