Hi please i have a question and i would really appreciate it if someone helps out . i would like to start a video sharing website something like youtube , but the concept is different and outstanding . however i would to know or at least get an estimate of the amount of bandwith that would be needed to start such a website . i expect to get an average / good traffic also so i would really appreciate your suggestions.

There is no estimate at all. All depends on video size, traffic, compression ,caching, etc.

Add together every (video views * size of video) plus a meg or two for the page itself for bandwidth.

krsix thanks for the reply , anyway in your own estimate what do you think would be the bandwidth for the a video site with an average traffic , also is there some sort of calculator or website where one can calculate this stuff example video view + size etc to get to know the amount of bandwidth required

No. It is different for everybody. It depends on how many people you have, how you compress your videos, the filesize of each video.

There is no such thing as 'average traffic'.
