This is something i have never done. What is the best tool to use to make the videos.

Are there any free versions out there that are worth it.

Depending on what kind of video you are trying to make, Camtasia works really for desktop recording with voice over. For me iMovie on the mac is really easy if I have to put together a real video.

Cool site for video distribution is TubeMogul.com

For what Video is concerned, you can make a real 'Movie' or you can make some sort of a 'Photo Slide Show' with Photo's and text to get a message accross (I made my little 'Early Morning Jogging' (inspirational) Promo Video for my Healthy Lifestyle Blog with MS Photostory3)

You can also use power point to make your presentation. Then use Authorstream to make the PP into a video. All for free I might add.

start with the free stuff and get good at it first. make a power point and then save those slides in jpeg. use those slides in windows movie maker to make a quick video. The more you do it the better you'll get at it. don't burn cash on those shiny tools just yet.

Windows movie maker is a good choice for starting out - but it can not edit videos with the .mov extension. If you want to edit .mov videos, you will have to convert them first to .mpg or .avi.

windows movie maker live - from what I heard is supposed to be able to edit .mov videos. But movie maker live only runs on vista or windows 7.

So if you have a video camera that films in .mov or .mod format, and have windows xp, either get windows 7, get some converter software, or use some other video editing software.

If your serious about this video stuff, do not go with a cheap camera, your videos will show it later. I suggest at least a $150+ camera, or something in the $300+ price range. For some of my videos, I use a $500 Canon camera that films in 720p HD.

Before throwing money at the problem, download Camstudio (free) and Open Office (free). Make a slideshow in Open Office. Record it in Camstudio. Edit in Windows Movie Maker (If you've got Vista or better), add some royalty free music, job done. Want a camera? Consider a Flip Mino. Cheap, easy to use (2 buttons), and good for the price. Throw in a basic tripod and you're good to go.

Camtasia is the best video recording software I've used, but it's expensive! You can use something like Camstudio to do the basic screen recording for free though. It's not as high quality but it gets the job done. A great video editing software I've found is VideoPad. It makes cropping and editing videos so much easier than any other program I've tried, plus they have a free version that works great.

I agree with window movie maker. Once you get used to that and know more about video making you can upgrade and get more sophisticated programs. Good luck!

When I first got started I purchased an inexpensive video editing program "Corel Video Studio Pro". I especially like the Wizard, built in templates, and drag and drop interface. Truly a breeze to get started creating your own videos.

Good advice. there are plenty of free options available that will let you create video for free. Yet simple, you could pick out any of your well-written articles and form a video through ppt slides. Simply add your voice to it. Good start, that will be.

I use Camtasia all day long. It is perfect for making videos for Sales Letters, Updates, newsletters and it gives you opportunity to connect with your customers :)
