I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has experimented with video ad's or infomercials? I have only experimented a little. We filmed the CEO explaining our service. We do a lot of video views on our site although the filming is very amateurish. (is that a word?), I guess people are lazy and don’t wish to read content, they’d rather have someone on a video talk to them. When Google video first launched we uploaded the video but got low CTR even though we were targeting a popular keyword (for Search Engines). Within Google video the keyword was rarely searched for. What has your experience been with video's on your site or on a public site like Youtube or Google Video, etc.. ? What difficulties did you come across when trying to create the video. Our main hurdle was bad lighting, and an inexperienced presenter.
Well when it comes down to it I think informercials work alot better then video. Just because people are watching tv and they are to lazy to change the channel so they just watch it. Where as if you are on a video site and the video doesnt look interesting they just close it
I think videos will be the future of advertising because if you do it constantly and know what in the world meta tags and keywords are, video sites such as you tube will accept your video and now you have a billion people to advertise to . Its worth it ONLY if done constantly.
I use Youtube to advertise my Learn to draw videos. Have had about 70000 views in the last six months
At my last company we put over 100 videos on YouTube and other video sites. We were averaging over 15,000 views of those videos per month. The ones that did the best did not sell our products, but talked about our customers and what they accomplished and/or provided some value in terms of tips and tricks that people could use in their own jobs or at their companies. - Mike
So far from reading multiple threads, I figure youtube works if you have a how-to guide or a something of actual use to the viewer. Videos that are trying to sell to the user get nowhere. Which confirms my beliefs that the Youtube type sites attract audiences who are not looking to buy anything, join anything, or visit another site in particular. They are looking for entertainment through video or filmed instructions, to help them solve a problem (like how to do a card trick for example). So for anyone to market using video on sites like youtube, you have to do either one of two things: 1, create content that is entertaining, so entertaining that it will spread virally, or; 2, you have to create useful content and hope people build enough trust in you to visit your site for more details. This is a lot like writing articles. It is time consuming and has low CVR due to the nature of the marketing vehicle targeting people who are not in the emotional state to spend money.
An "entertaining" video or infomercial would be watched by many, for many reasons. If I could provide a 1 minute teaser video, like the big Motion Picture Studios use to get me into the theatre, and the cost was "reasonable" I'd try it. But, you tube and tvweek dot com /viral-video/ allow choices. People visiting a site such as Video Classified Ads.info or say, Help Wanted Videos.com have choices and are not forced to watch. You may consider allowing choice in your website design.
