Video Marketing - Converting Traffic

Videos generate lots of traffic - really fast! My question to you all is this: How do you leverage this web traffic and convert the traffic into paying customers?

What should be the #1 goal of a video:
Site registration (capturing contact info for future contact ie: email marketing, direct mailers)

    or

Instant conversion (making a sale right away).

Obviously depending on the nature of the video and the marketing goal, you have to alter your plan...what would you assign more value to long-term? A registered user or immediate sale?

I would say the first option by far... a lot of youtube'ers are just not ready for buying and you need to slowly turn them into the process of purchasing, and the best way to go with this is by getting their leads on a landing page.

The first one by far. Gather there information, then ask them for a little more, then a little more. Get as much information as they'll let you. One page leads to another, and another etc.

Once you have that information you can use it wisely, to choose what type of leads you display to them. Slowly get them ready for the purchase, send them a 7 step newsletter about a certain product, just information about it, without a sales link or anything else. If you've got there 'name' and other information about them you can use that to get past spam filters and get them interested in the end product. (Which will still block even though they opt'd in)
