    Hi all,

    I’m selling a video game website, http://www.gaming-nation.net.

I purchased Gaming Nation back in March 2005. It was a site that had a great history, with over 600 members (now 675) and some great traffic and revenue statistics. The problem was it had been neglected and forum members had left. I saw it as a project that needed some work and attention. To see how well the site was doing, here are some links…

    http://www.gaming-nation.net/amazon.gif
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/stats.gif
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/stats2.gif

As you can see it was certainly performing well, but obviously today’s details are the important thing now. Since buying the site, I’ve implemented a new design and forum skin as well as a custom built content management system. This system can easily be adapted to add/edit features of the site, and here are a few screenshots of it in action…

    http://www.gaming-nation.net/cms1.jpg
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/cms2.jpg
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/cms3.jpg
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/cms4.jpg

When adding news, reviews etc you can format the text using a WYSIWYG editor. All content that is added is archived and can be easily findable on the site. Also, all pages on the site are formatted as search engine friendly URLs. All games that are added are given their own “hub” page (example: http://www.gaming-nation.net/game/ssx-3), which lists an affiliate link to Amazon as well as links to the review, screenshots and related news.

Just to also add, I have an owned vBulletin license. This will expire on February 8th 2007, so after that it's $30 for additional updates.

So, why am I selling it?
Basically, I haven’t the knowledge. While I’m quite good with the technical side of websites, this market isn’t for me. When I bought it I thought I had a good understanding of video games and played them enough to be able to run this website successfully. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. I’ve realised that the owner needs a good understanding of most types of video games (they don’t just play a certain genre of games for example). I am a one man band, so my knowledge of just a small section of this industry wasn’t enough for the site to be successful.

    Stats
The revenue for this site is nil. However, as shown above, the potential is defiantly there. The links to Amazon could make a new owner thousands a month, as they did when the site was successful.

As for traffic, here are some screenshots from AWStats for September:

    http://www.gaming-nation.net/stats1.jpg
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/stats2.jpg
    http://www.gaming-nation.net/stats3.jpg

As you can see, despite getting no updates, there is still a fair amount of traffic.

So, onto price. I’d like bidding to start at $100, with the BIN at $1300. The reserve is $500.

    Regards,
    Mike

Sorry, I didn't make it clear in the original post. It is in fact a full license which expires on February 8th 2007.

I've edited the post as well :)

I'm interested. I have a question about the CMS: On the news & review pages, does the Latest News/Reviews table expand? Where is the full list of reviews or are there currently only three?

On the right side there is a little search tool. For example, if you search for review items in January 2004, there is a long list of them.

On the home page there is a search box which lets you search for all the games that have been added to the site.
