Say I want to embed a tv episode from... Las Vegas on my website which is hosted on another website www.blip.tv for example. Are there any legal issues regarding this? No files will be hosted on my site, as the whole film will be streamed from the website this video comes from. Thanks !
In some countries there are legal issues. It is called contributory infringement. tv-links got shut down and they didn't host content. I wouldn't know what the law says in Romania though.
Here is a link to an article talking about a site being shut down and the owner arrested in the UK for similar practices. Granted, the sheer volume and popularity of the site is probably what really got him in trouble, but I think it shows. For the purpose of being arrested, your own country's laws will be what you need to worry about. But the site being hosted in the US would make it easier for US companies to get it shut down if you had infringing content from them.
Wow.. that is.. something . So the site can get in trouble for simply linking to a megaupload/ rapidshare/ embeded video site.
Yes. It's not likely that a site that has one or two will see the police coming through their doors, but anything is possible.
