I need a video editor that can edit, splice and combine videos from in different formats - especially .mov (quicktime) videos. Last month I bought a new canon digital camera, but it files videos in .mov format. For my video editing I have been using windows movie maker. Well, movie maker will not work with quicktime. My choices are: Buy some video editing software that can edit .avi, .mpg, mov, .wmv Buy another digital camera that films in avi and give the other one to my kids. Buy a converter to convert .mov to .avi or .mpg. Price is a factor here people. Please do not recommend software that cost over $300 or $400 us dollars.
hey there, Buy 'Total Video Converter' and use it to convert your videos to any format which suits your editing needs.
You could try using Adobe Premiere Elements. You can find it online for $50-$100 and it's great. It might be a bit more depth than you need but it provides room to grow. You can really do almost as much with it as Adobe Premiere but with a more simple interface and with a much lower price tag.

Personally i would just convert the video file to work with the Editor you have and then convert it back to a .mov
