Im looking for Windows Video/Media Editor For Beginners.. Can you recommend any? Just for basic editing and some effects to add..like add pictures with sound and some effects on pictures..thats it..

Some says myDVD from roxio is good but some says its not good
I looked at AVS Video Editor looks good and promising but some says the support is awful..plus the requirements are too high (min. RAM 1 GIG) wow!!

Im checking out ULead same thing .. the system requirements are pretty high.. ouch..!!

Since Im not going to use it frequently.. I dont want to spend more money on upgrading my pc...im on a tight budget right now...

    my computer..
Windows NT 2000, 264 RAM, 10 Gig space...

If you want to do some serious movie editing, then you will have to upgrade your RAM. A 1gig stick is pretty cheap nowadays.

I have to agree that Windows Movie Maker is probably your best bet for a beginner video editor. It has all the capabilities you will need early on the get your feet wet with editing. I do like Pinnacle Studio as well but it's a bit more advanced in my opinion and perhaps a little too much for a beginner.

For editing, I use my Mac and Final Cut Pro. I've been using FCP for probably 6 years now. It's not for the weakhearted but has some serious capability.

FYI, your going to need more than a 256MB stick to do just about anything. If you're working with something that uses effects and requires rendering then you might as well hit the render button and take a nap for a simple cross dissolve. I would also be suspicious that if your ram is low then your video ram might be low as well which will also pose another problem.. Not to discourage you, but It's important to make sure your hardware is up to spec if you're going to edit video.

Make sure no matter which product you choose that your system matches the minimum requirements needed to run the software.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have seen a friend's work with the Roxio product...if you want something that looks real good and takes very little work on your part (read: you have some limitations in the control you have), then Roxio might be worth a look.

However, you SHOULD be able to get trials of the low-end editing software that has been mentioned here (when it doesn't come for free). Be sure to check out the trials before you buy.

Oh yeah...and to echo what everyone else has said...more memory will REALLY make you happy. Worth the investment.

I usually create movie with Windows Movie Maker or Ulead Video Studio. Both of them has better performance and easy-to-use.
