Video editing software

I am looking for a good video editing software to edit few videos. The kind of functionalities I am looking for is the ability of cropping a video into smaller files and removing the unwanted parts, adding copyright text, fixing color, saturation etc. and of course ability to add/removed soundtracks.

Any idea which software would fit the bill nicely?

well if you have a Mac i would suggest either Final Cut Pro or iMovie, hands down final cut pro is one of the best out there way better than avid, premiere pro, sony vegas, etc.

Well.. I think that the best video editing software is Adobe Premier... good version of this software is 6.5 (if you can find it). This is very professional and best for editing videos and exporting.

If you are using window 2000/xp, then Virtual Edit 1.25 will be a good option.

Cost: free to try and 40 bucks to buy
    Download link: http://www.virtualedit.net/downloads.htm

If you are using linux, then ubuntu studio will be a good option. Ubuntu Studio is a variant of Ubuntu that concentrates on three creative tasks: video editing, audio recording and graphics.

Premiere is alright..... FCP and iMovie (free) is good - Avid is the industry standard - u can get Avid Express for pretty cheap now - for the power it packs.

If you have a pc running with dual core intel you should go for the easier application Pinnacle Studio Plus v11.
They have fixed a lot of bugs from their previous version and it's really easy to use.
I have been using it for weddings, seminars e.t.c
I am very happy with it you should give it a try and see mate.
    Friendly plimper.

Ok.. Well both Final Cut and Adobe Premire Pro are great programs. Dont knock Avid.. I hate how people sit around and cry about whats the better.. They are all almost the same. I use all of them depending on if im at work, home, or a 3rd party studio.

*** For the buddy looking to do some croping if you find on bit-torrent or pay for aftereffects that will run on your computer and is what used alot in the real world. Not sure how to use it? Get a lynda.com account and find out all kinds of neet things.
