Hey.. I am shooting some footage for editing. Anyone know of a solution to issues with video files form a JVC digital camcorder. More specifically JVC Everio. It seems once I transfer the files to my computer (not using the just about useless cd that came with the jvc) they don't work or even import into after effects or premiere. I found a video converter that seems to convert them to .avi and they will then load in the adobe products but are extremely slow and lag. ANyone else do any editing like this or have any idea what I can do to get a smoother process out of this?
Honestly I am not much of an expert in video (been years) but I wouldn't worry so much about working in AVI or MPEG. The important thing is what type of movie you export in the end. Premier and After Effects are memory and processor hogs and unless you are running on some amazing graphics computer, things will be slow. All the same I found this link. Maybe it can offer you some help. http://i.nconspicuo.us/2007/01/26/convert-mod-files-to-mpg-or-avi-jvc-everio-hdd-camcorder/
If it isn't working, you may get another better video converter, I personally use AVS Video Converter, It will convert from just about any format to just about any format. I used it to convert all my DVD rips from .avi to .mp4's for my iPod. It has full Apple TV support so it can convert your files for you with ease. Here's some of the features from their site: Convert Video between Almost Any Formats: HD Video (inc. AVCHD, MPEG-2 HD and WMV HD), TOD, MOD, M2TS, AVI (DivX, Xvid, etc.), MP4 (inc. Sony PSP and Apple iPod), WMV, 3GP, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG-1, 2, 4, H.263, H.264, Real Video, DVR-MS, MKV, FLV etc. Microsoft Windows 7 Support AVS Video Converter is compatible with the latest version of Microsoft Windows. If its a Flash camcorder then most of them save the files as MP4's. In which case Premiere and After Effects do not support this format. Download a free converter and convert the original files to MPEGS. Once this is done import them into either programs and you should be good to go!
Hi Eight just google adobe after effects tutorial then you will see a bunch of great tutz from the experts.
