I've heard you can earn $1,000 a month with a decent video site and I'm planning to build one on a certain topic, obviously the subject of your videos can have a big influence on the traffic rate. But just wondering before I do start one, has anyone here had any success with a video website? because the thing I'm wondering is say for example you had funny videos site, YouTube is the dominator clearly on video sites so why would anyone bother going to your site to watch YouTube / Google embedded videos when they could just go to YouTube / Google vid itself and find any vid they want. PS. If you have had success with a video website, could you mention what sort of success and how much you roughly earn from it on a monthly basis. Cheers.
It will be hard getting traffic as the comeption for video sites it high. Unless you pick a super niche. I think you need to do a bit of niche and keyword research first
Well, all videos on google / youtube are not funny... you should pick best ones and put them on your site... But it's true that you have very good and quality competitions.
Youtube is crap when comes to video nowadays, if you look on their first page there are only stupid videos featured, everyone has heard of them and now they upload their bullshitted videos. Its advantage is that it has a lot database /archives of video or whatever you want to call it, so when you do a search you find what you need. Metacafe has better quality videos than youtube and is growing steadily, but their videos take a little bit longer to load. [server problems] I have started some time ago and been quite successful with videoblogs and what i can tell you is that adsense does not pay well on videos sites, ctr and cpc quite low, try other ways to monetize them. Yes you can beat the youtube and metacafe giants by focusing on a more specific niche with better quality videos (even if taken from them and selected). Not everyone likes to search throughout the huge database of youtube videos in order to find a video they like. Also if you try to search for some very popular keywords, you will have problems picking up good results because all stupid people use famous tags/keywords for their home made videos and they are displayed firstly. e..g. if you try to search for ronaldo you will see a lot of results that has nothing to do with ronaldo. If you have original videos try to upload the on video google or youtube using the private feature , and keep them confidential so that only the visitors of your site can visit your embedded videos, not all the surfers on youtube.
