Wow, this one really has me confused. I am trying to download all my images so I can optimize them. When I check my image folder properties with Frontpage, it says that I have 4,500 images, which is correct. But then, when I tried to download them, my FTP program says that there are only 1,900 images!!! Where are the rest???? I tried using 2 different ftp programs, and they show exacly the same. (flashget and ws_ftp pro) WTF??? How am I supposed to download my images if my FTP program shows an incorrect amount??? Any help?
Your images may be duplicated in your _vti_ folders. Open frontpage live on the server and go into one of them. Frontpage will count the dupes; ftp won't. Are you sure that you're not looking on your local drive?
No, Frontpage is showing the correct files. For example, I have an image called 4433.gif, that is one of the most recent images I uploaded to my site. I can see it in my image folder when I use Frontpage, but I can't see it when I use my FTP programs
When was the last time you connected live to the server and recalculated your hyperlinks? If you haven't done it in a while; do it. Another thing you could do is check your image folder in a browser: if you have it protected by an index page; remove it and then copy the output of what you see into a text editor that has numbered lines. I've never heard of ftp only showing a limited number of files -*unless* the files were hidden: ie .filename. What ftp program do you use? If you use a wsftp flavor, do this. FTP to your images folder. In the wsftp program; there is a white box, under the MkDir button. Type in -la and hit the refresh button. What's it say? Note: this works on unix flavors; don't think it will work on windows. Not sure.
