Hi learning the ropes, or trying to. I believe a massive part of internet marketing is link buliding, so here I am. Looked at the first few, massive lists of sites that offer dofollow links (i'm guessing these are the good ones that actually point back to your site?) and some links to various individual sites to put links on. My question, the link to my site. Are they put in a forum, or if on a blog am i putting it in my signature, or bio? For every post i were to make in a forum, is that a link? or just one per site? And obviously it would be better for me if the site is actually related to my site, but does it matter that much in terms of the other site owners? These links offered i'e "pr5 links back to your site", if they are about babies and mine subject is racing cars, is there any point? Wouldnt the site owner say thanks but no thanks? or Do people just go ahead to these sites and make up a bio and link from there? Many thanks Alan.
In regards to just building backlinks, all you really need is one per domain. If you want to also try to get direct traffic as well as accumulate backlinks, then the more link you have on a domain, the better. And I always recommend building links that are closely related to your own site. Sure, any links will help, but the link from high quality, closely related sites with strong pagerank help the most.
