I have a blog that I am now using to dedcate to alternative travel and TechNomadism, at IAmJonathan.Com . . . The blog is, and will develop into a good, high quality and hand written developed content blog featuring text and video. At the end of next month (January) I will be going into North Korea (Yes, I said NORTH Korea!) to document travel and tourism opportunities in that country (and yes, there are some), along with cultural stuff of all sorts. Furthermore, during the months of January and February I have my co-authors who are going into Vietnam, Myanmar (Burma) and some other countries who will contribute alot. Here's my situation, in a nutshell: Between January 4th and January 16th or so, I have a couple of weeks of downtime. I also have nothing much to do, except some paid blog posts on other blogs, work on my sites, etc. which I can do anytime, and from anywhere. So, I decided that I'm going to take a trip. First, I will go to Shangri-La, China, which is near the border with Tibet. Then, my gf and I will cross over land (by 3rd class sleeper train!) into Tibet, and on into Llasa, the capitol city of Tibet. We'll spend about a week or 10 days in Llasa, during which time we'll do nothing but travel "by the skin of our teeth", and do video documentation of some of the more interesting attractions, as well as lots of stuff that's more "offbeat", that most tourists wouldn't do or see. During the trip, I'll make blog posts for every day, and every worthwhile thing we see or do. We'll also shoot an incredible amount of video. I expect that this 10 day trip series will yield 20 10 minute videos or so for the blog. So here's what I'm offering for members at digital point: 1 10 second advertisement (you create or a static 10 second "sponsored by" screen) at the begining AND at the end of a 10 minute Youtube video. A permanent text link with anchor text of your choice in the article featuring your sponsored video on the blog, which is currently PR3 A permanent text link with anchor text of your choice in a post on another PR4 blog, and another PR3 blog. First opportunity for the same thing, locked in at the same price when I go to North Korea for those who are interested The price? $50 for the sponsorship. Considering what people pay for other link building and traffic services, I am offering a HUGE amount of leverage at a very low price. You get the leverage of 2 permanent pr3 blog posts, a pr4 blog posts, and sponsorship of videos which will permanently stay on youtube, google video, and several other video services where I will upload them. As mentioned, I expect this trip to yield about 20 high quality 10 minute videos. I am selling sponsorship on ONLY 10 of them, and will use the rest for my own branding and marketing purposes. For anyone who purchases one of the 10 sponsorships before Jan. 1st, the price is $50 for all above. If I don't fill all 10 slots, after I produce the videos and create the individual drafts for the blog posts, the price will double. To say that the price will double after x date sounds like either arrogance, or a cliche landing page gimick, I know. But the reason I am doing this is because I already have the 10 offline sponsors available to me at $100 each, but I want to also generate a case study related to TechNomadism/TeleCommuting and working online from this. And really . . . On any blog I own that has ANY PR, I could get $10-$15 for a few words from a pay to post scheme with my eyes closed writing crap content with no video, no extras, nothing - so I think $50 is fair. How much traffic? This of course is not the kind of thing where any gaurantees about traffic could be made, but I will HEAVILY promote this series in travel forums and other travel blogs, etc., and the videos on youtube, google video, etc. should draw quite alot, too. Which/what video? I can't gaurantee what video the advertisement will be placed on, since I haven't left yet! However, because I am running this as a case study and for research/promotion purposes, I will chose what I think are the 10 best or most interesting videos and use those. Permanent? Yes. The in post link from the PR4 blog, and the 2 PR3 blogs will be permanent. The videos that your ad appears on will stay on youtube, google video, and other video services permanently. North Korea/Vietnam/Etc.? For the upcoming video series done by me as well as the people I'm working with, I will probably solicit advertising privately. I wont' post like this again. However, once the drafts of those videos and posts are ready, the 10 people who go with this sponsorship for Tibet will be offered FIRST CHOICE for sponsorship of any of the videos at the same price - $50. (If you haven't guessed, I'm fishing for conversion/traffic stats and future testimonials with this rate and by posting here on DP) Promotion The blog posts and the blog in general will be promoted by forum posts, blog comments (NOT SPAM!), signature links, and I am going to burn out a few hundred dollars in Adwords/MSN Adcenter/Yahoo! ad credits during the month of January to promote this series. Payment By paypal. Or Western Union. Security Check my Itrader. Feel free to ask people I have done transactions on DP with before. I am always prompt and always deliver. This is mainly an experiment for me, and I don't need the money, and will do the trip and the series whether I get sponsorship or not. I just want to blog about the whole thing and share the data later. You can see some examples of my initial experiments with Video blogging on the blog itself, and those are things that I made, but I think at this point I'm much better at editing video, and now I have a team of people working with me, too. My writing/video hosting style is sort of unique, and I think at least somewhat engaging for the types of people who would be looking at this kind of information. Haven't gotten any takers on this in the online world yet (though I've only posted it here) except for some people interested in the text links only.. . For the purposes of writing about this later, I'm wondering if nobodiy has bought yet because: You don't think the blog is famous enough yet This is an untried method of advertising for you (sponsoring videos) You feel it's outside of your niches You don't trust me personally (and this won't hurt my feelings!) You don't like my 'style' of blogging You want to see if someone else does it first or others? Believe me - If somebody says they're worried about being ripped off, I don't have enough rep (can't post on DP that much here in China because it's a hassle), or something like that that's fine. But I really want to generate the sponsorship online, rather than use my offline contacts, and for the sake of my study/report I would really like peoples feedback on this idea. Thanks
