good reminder of how many of us have such a blessed life!

One of the links on the web site there, I used to visit http://www.hungersite.com/ often to click/donate; the least I can do it remember to start doing that again!

Dont donate money, if you want to help adopt a child from those countries. If you jsut donate money it will get stolen by the rebells or goverment and used to buy weapons.

This really brought home to me just how ridiculous it is that I (along with thousands of other people in more affluent cultures) have such problems in trying to lose excess weight, when these poor people are basically skin and bone.

We have easy access to so much junk food, and huge quantities (too much) of food easily at our fingertips. And the weight loss industry is enormous! People spend a fortune on magical "cures", meal supplements, gyms, health clubs, exercise equipment, weight loss groups and clubs.

And the cost in medical (and personal, family and missed work related) expenses brought on by these food and weight excesses is horrendous.

It makes me feel awful that, even though I know darn well need to lose a few kilos, and it would make me much happier and healthier to do so, I happily munched on cake and chocolate tonight! And there are millions starving. What I eat in a week would be more than they would have in many weeks, and I'm sure theirs is much less nutritious, varied and enjoyable food too.

It's a pity that we can't press a magic button and stop all overeating and associated costs, and divert that money to those who really need food.

As for adoption, yes, that can help give a better life to some children. But, unfortunately the adoption process isn't easy and many people who want to adopt don't end up being allowed, for various reasons, and the process is very slow. Besides, it's a very limited solution, helping only a small percentage. Help needs to be given to whole communities, through non corrupt sources, and that has lots of challenges, and requires lots of money and honest people.

I hope that one day the poverty problems (and others) of the world will be solved. Until then, we must all do what we can, through the best (researched) sources we can find.

When all of us web entrepreneurs become millionaires or billionaires, :) then we really have a chance to make a big difference, both through our own resources, and our sensibly used influence on others.
