Ive setup a landing page, nice and focused right down to a city in the UK, i checked keyword search volumes in googles tool, i know these are not to be taken too literally, and quite a few of the keyword phrases have pretty low monthly search volumes, with some i mean very low too. While the landing page, ad text, keywords are nice and focused and with QS between 7 - 9, i think that the lack of search volume will make it hard to test. So i think it probably is better to not be quite so specific in targetting a city for this service niche. Il target various areas of this service but not down to cities, it seems to have good search volumes for keywords within the niche, for UK, and thats even with exact match. Its not exactly a cheap niche, but neither is it much cheaper CPC by going as specific as i have for the first landing page. I often read suggestions for being quite specific when promoting products, like some will say include model numbers, and things like that. But im guessing that when promoting a service its maybe not a good idea to try and focus on a tiny area of a service by going city specific.
If possible: Setup different landing pages for different cities, then only change the landing page to fit the new city. Then test across all cities.
Hi Parker, well that was my thought of how i was going to do this, the various cities and counties, but per city it means the search volumes is very low for each city, so it makes it kind of harder to test. While its nice and specific it zones in on something thats just maybe too tiny i feel and would be better hitting it UK wide.
Pipes, it would help me if I knew what sort of product you were promoting. I can then give my 2 pence worth.
Hi muchacho79, its not an actual product, but a business/financial service, and based on quotes, generating leads.
Hi Pipes, I too work in finance - could you PM me with what your site is about etc and what sort of leads you are looking to generate. We may be able to help eachother, what with us both being in the UK.
