Maybe this has already been talked about, but I just stumbled across it and instantly became confused. Do a Google search for the keyword “home†and the first result is a link to NASA! To make things even stranger, the word “home†isn’t anywhere in that site. What’s the deal with that?
Odd. I performed a search for "home" and MSN.com was ranked first for that term. NASA is ranked fourth.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=home&btnG=Google+Search I guess my question is why? I don't understand how NASA is related to that keyword at all. Maybe this is more of an SEO question?
there is no need for home to be in the website, a link form another website like this --> home <--- is enough! read more about google bombing on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb or here : http://bombthenet.com/what-is-a-bomb/
Because all those super high PR websites at universities link to it like this Nasa Home Page Therefore they rank #1 for NASA, Home, Home Page, and Page.
haha search "failure" and Bush's biography will be at top. back to the topic. It is because of many many websites have given link to NASA with anchor "home" and that's why Google think it should come first for "home".
So you are saying that it's because sites are linking to NASA with an anchored text link, and that's why it's the #1 result? Very strange, but informative. I guess while we are on the topic... is Google Bombing concidered a black hat SEO trick? Thanks for all the help!
I do not think so, because google bombing could be intentional or accidental! You cannot stop people linking to sites using their own definiton of a site
