    Hi Guys,

Anyone able to shed any light on this url:

    https://www.google.com/evaluation/search/rating/task-edit

Appeared in the logs this morning... Is it a penalty? Shouldn´t be as there is no reason for one although the :

    /evaluation/search/rating/task-edit

    makes me very concerned!

    Cheers,

    Angus

i have see similar referals and i think is manualy evaluation of the pages since for example i had a site with maps that were in development and the text was there but what a text can do if you are searching for a map.
    you get the idea?

Perhaps the "image" tool? The one where they get people to go head to head and come up with words associated with the picture they show... hmm..

When I visit the url, I got a login page, then after login

    403 Forbidden

The user ...... is not a member of EWOQ. Please ask your EWOQ contact for access.

Then I search EWOQ on google

    some say:

This comes from Google's http://eval.google.com/ which only available to those part of the "EWOQ group." SearchBistro has a ton of details with demos of it in action named Google Secret Lab, Prelude.

    and here
    http://www.searchbistro.com/index.php?/archives/19-Google-Secret-Lab,-Prelude.html
    Google Secret Lab, Prelude
It's one of the best kept secrets of Google. It's a mystery on Webmasterworld. Also in Europe (France) they don't know what to expect from that odd URL http://eval.google.com. Click it and you get ...nothing. The site reveals itself only if you have the proper login and if you use a network known by Google. Residues of Eval.google are found on the web, but the full content of the mystery site has never been published before. Here it is: the real story about Eval.Google. They use... humans! Welcome to the first entry in Search Bistro..............................................

Yep manual review, EWOQ is the Google Rater system.

Do you know which page they landed on, also did they browse around or just enter then leave on the same URL?

Anything can happen now, from actually ranking higher for the term they searched for if your page is good right through to your domain going south as a spam document domain.

    Thanks for your help guys!

So far all I´ve seen is:

    • MAin page has dropped from 3 to 5
    • Tier 2 pages are all ranked higher
    • Tier 3 pages are all ranking higher

The confusing part id that the PR update at the same time and rumours of an algorythm update at the same time (ie SERP changes) are making it hard to determine what changes are due to the "visit" and what changes may come from the other two activities...

I can´t say how long the person was on the site or what pages they visited. It was buried in the referrers list but no additional stats...

So a few days have passed since the visit and the following seems to have happened:

1, The great keyword that was bringing in 15-18% of my traffic is now only bringiong in 7-8% almost a ten % drop. (This is the 3 -7 change mentioned in the 1st post)

2, The tier 2 and 3 pages are getting found at the top of their respective keywords. Traffic here has increased 10% -70% per page depending on the demand.

So what can I gather. It appears that if you go after keywords with 50,000 plus demand per month then it appears google will at some stage reviwe the results for that keyword. That or if the keyword has, ahem, real meaning. I think this is where Matt Cutts went off on one the other day on his blog where he was talking about the need for certain medical keywords to reflect honest information sites....

Still in the dark here with some of the goings on and am wondering what I need to do to get the keyword position back up to 3 from 7... Other than more links and more content.

    Cheers,

    Angus

If your page has been marked down as a non-relevant document, i think you will have a pretty hard time bringing it back up again.

What i'd personally do is punch your keyword in to the Adwords tool, and find several other highly searched terms that are closely related then build several other pages around them terms to diversify.

You might find the total traffic from these several terms is more then your one single term, and this way your not relying on the one page and the one keyword for your traffic.
