Hi to all, I have a product which is in very specific, hi-end niche. The product speaks of itself, it has many reviews and respect in the market. We are positioning this product in a similar niche websites through advertisements. Starting from now, I decided to run adwords for the product. There are only 2 products listed on eshop and some information to read on about the technology, presentations and press reviews. I was able to grasp some similar keywords with KW Elite program and WT. The problem is that WT gives me kw list that has very low volume of searches. I was able to build around 1K kw and ran google adwords for a couple of days - some keywords had impressions but most of them didn't. I got 10 clicks for two campaigns and about 1K keywords. What do you suggest to do? I am thinking - is it possible to advertise ANYTHING? if the niche is so specific, how do you choose kw? I know that if we have impressions but no clicks, CTR goes down. What do you suggest to do? Thanks
Think laterally. Find some products that are related but not competing, e.g., if you're targeting shoes, bid on shoelaces. Also, think about the type of person that you're targeting and what other things they would be interested in and target those. You might also want to do some SEO to grab the traffic from those low-search keywords if they're long-tails.
Thanks for your reply. SEO stuff i guess is ok cause a company works on that very carefully. But running adwords for about a week makes me think that It is worthless to run it for that kind of product. As you've mentioned, i've tried many different kw according to similar products in the market - still no luck. I disabled content network ads and left only Google search ads. Got two clicks starting from yesterday . I've reduced KW to around 20-30 (used google keywords tool to find rather big search volume and low competition). And still I get around VERY low search volume and 2 miserable clicks. Got no ideas.
IMO people worry a bit too much about CTR. Focus on finding keywords and casting a wide net at first and then tightening it to your converting keywords. Good luck. -Patz
patzer: thanks for your input. I ain't worried for now about CTR (well, just a little bit). But still it's not the case!!! I can't get any good clicks even if I try to enter broad match keywords consisting of two related words. How do you suggest to find those "catchy" keywords or any good keywords? I have Keyword Elite program, I know WT and keyword discovery - things they offer are the same I found in different ways or thought of. Don't help. That's why I am worried. I will be more specific: I am in a very high end audio power cords field if it makes any difference. Any other thoughts?
sounds to me like your bids are too low. what's your average position for your keywords? i would bid high enough to make sure that my ads were showing in the 3rd -6th position.
