My friend's dog just got run over by a car and passed away. This happened last night.
For the past 7 years they would let their dog go out by itself all the time. Even though their street isn't that busy a few cars would go by every hour.
The reason I'm posting this is as a gentle reminder to keep you eyes on your dog and please don't let them roam free. All it takes is one mistake.

Yeah... my father always let my dogs run out when he moved his car. 2 of my dogs got run over, and I am a huge animal lover so it broke my heart.

Be very careful with your animals

I checked like crazy at al the animal shelters, place lost flyers and never...I am sure he got run over and someone picked it up and thew it away! I miss my KITTY!!!! =o(

oh.. I am so sad to hear this. It reminds me of how my friend cried over the death of his dog who ran out of the house suddenly and then got knocked down by a car.

My wife hated dogs and each time I begged her to let us have one, she refused. One day we're driving along and a dog runs in front of us and I left about $50 worth of tire on the road trying to stop in time. My wife starts getting on my case about caring more for a stupid dog than the lives of her and our children who were in the car and next time run over the damn dog because it's not worth losing our lives avoiding a stupid dog that doesn't know any better than to run in front of cars!

Fast forward to six years later. My wife is dying from cancer and a friend who is a police officer comes over to my house to try to console me. He says he can relate because he lost someone he cared about. He tells me this story about how much he loved his partner on the force and how much it hurt him when his partner was killed in the line of duty. Personally I couldn't imagine him showing any kind of emotion (he was like the second terminator in T2). When I found out that the partner he was talking about was a police dog, I could hardly contain myself. I mean the world is made up of ignorant people and all but that took the cake. I never dared tell my wife that she was being compared to a dog by this friend of ours. Even though she couldn't walk by that point in her illness, I'm sure she would have willed herself out of bed to have it out with this guy! Maybe I'm the only one who enjoys this kind of delicious irony, but I thought this guy's ignorance was incredibly funny.

Needless to say, I am sorry for your friend's loss and wish them the best as they try to cope.
