Up for sale is the very profitable MMORPG/RPG/MMOG ChaosRPG.com

Revenue:
The game was launched a month ago today, and it has earned me $546,9 so far. The game earns money when a player purchases "Supporter-status" or buys "credits". The credits players buy can be exchanged in resources in the game. Players can either buy credits with Paypal or use their mobile phone! I've also added a 468x60 Adsense ad on the top of each page.

Here's a breakdown of the revenue:

Paypal (credit sales/supporter-status sales): $417,5
Mobilemoney.com (credit sales/supporter-status sales): €30,62 = $43,37
Adsense: $86,03

Hosting:
The first 27 days the site was hosted on a shared hosting plan, which worked great, but the last 6 days the game has been on my VPS. I had to change because my old host (Hostgator) apparently didn't allow RPGs.

Members:
When I moved the site to my VPS I had to reset the round. At the time of writing 214 players have logged in after the reset. In total there are more than 2000 registered. If a mail is sent out to all members, I'm sure most of them will login again.

Traffic:
See the screenshots at Sitepoint for traffic stats. Note that I only have traffic stats for the first 26 days. The first few days I used $100 on advertising the game, and I will tell the buyer here all I know about marketing a MMORPG.

Reason for sale:
I need the money..

 

Do you own the code i.e. is it unique to you or is it an implementation of an engine that anybody can buy? Also after the initial $100 in marketing, how much is your ongoing marketing expenses/mth?

There are games similar to this one, but the code is unique. Note that I've sold a few copies of an earlier version of the script. I've only used $100 on advertising.

 

Are there any restrictions on modifying the code further? Or extending it and selling the site later

 

You're welcome to modify it as you want, and sell the game later. You can't, however, resell the script.

As I said, I will tell the buyer everything I know about running MMORPG's.

 

I have to ask as I have only a small amount of experience with this particular script. One of my copies was directly ripped from kings of chaos and then modified to fix a bunch of bugs and add language packs (version can be seen here http://battlestreets.com/)

That said, what assurance is there that your script is in fact completely unique and not just another derivative?

 

The script is based on the koc gameplay, if that's what you mean.

No, it was not coded by me. I've sold 3-4 copies of earlier versions of the script. I run two myself: chaosrpg.com and medievalfight.com

 

Earned $40 since the auction was made.

 

I'm curious as to why you haven't emailed the 1800 or so users that were registered before the move? Why wouldn't they have just re-reg'd anyway on their own as it doesn't appear the domain name changed?

Also, I see few supporters listed and the site took in around $450 in supporter upgrades for a month. How many of those upgrades bought/expired before the move and how many upgraded since the move a week or so ago?
