5 days ago I registered a domain that had never been previously registered. I have started to building a clothing store on the domain and done some VERY basic on-site seo, but that's all. However, the site is ranking very high page 1-3 for most keywords in a VERY competitive industry. My question is, how is this possible? or am I missing something? Oh and I've also verified the rankings with Traffic Travis. Thanks, John
Hey John Yeah, it's fairly common for a brand new site to do really well in the SERPs for a week or 2, before being knocked right back down in the rankings. Looks like you've got a bit of a Google dance situation on your hands. Sorry to be the voice of doom! haha. But enjoy it while you can mate. Good luck with the site though!
Ahh, that explains it! I've never came across this before. I won't be too annoyed to lose the rankings as I expected it was only a temporary blip. Oh well, onto the REAL seo work
Well, it really depends on the keywords your ranking for. A competitive industry doesn't mean that every single keyword related to that industry is competitive. Remember, google ranks keywords, and not industries lol. You can see if what you have right now is actually valuable for your business. First, set up tracking to see what keywords people are typing to visit your site. Then once you collect the list, go to the google keyword tool and check to see the Exact Local Monthly volume for each keyword. From there, you'll be able to assess what's up, and how your business will benefit. Take Cares!
This is getting more and more common lately. Some of my affiliates are showing me their stats for brand new domains and was amazed As said above, it took a couple of weeks until Google push them back. Important thing is to remember that you can get profit from this temporary situation. Allow Google to index your site only when it's actually ready to make money. You will profit from those "2 week success"
