Very low CTR on my forum, need advise.

    Hello,

    I run a forum with good traffic, a nice number of posts (something more than 100k) and around 55% google traffic. I know I can make much more money if I increase my CTR%. (it's below 0.10% now)

    In the forum there are the following ads :

    -One between the menu and the forums (for example here in DP it says Forum Jump, user CP, Fun Stuff etc. and then it's the forums between these two i have a 728x90 google ad)

    - The other ad on my forum is in the first post and it's above the post's content. Also a 728x90.

    Both ads really have a very low CTR. Colors are blend most of the time, I change them now and then.
    I don't want to become a millionaire but I would really like to see these 2 ads hitting a CTR over 0.10%

    how about a link ad of 728X15 in between the foruums and menu?

    just keep one thing in mind...

    its the text links that convert more than the images and the banner links...
    by tect links i mean the text boxes like 728X15 and others..

    I didn't really like them because you have to click 2 times to get paid, but I recently tested them. My placement was awful though so I didn't get any crazy money, I hope that when I place them properly they will do good job.

    Do you guys believe that changing my inside first post ad (728x90) to a 300x250 rectangle would help? I had it like that in past but I don't remember having very good results.
    Also is it better to be above the post's content or below it? (if i make it a rectangle it will be on the right side actually)

    Add inline adds like kontera for guest only as it irks the regular members.
    However inline ads have good ctr Imo best if you have lot of unconverted google traffic ;)

    it is very very hard to get a decent CTR on forums in my opinon , not impossible tho :)

    I agree with puting a horizontal link unit on the top as a sub menu
    also try to put a banner next to the header link this forum
    you can also place banner on each post or somothink, just keep testing and do more testing and give a week or two to see the results, and you should get an idea what works best :)
