I thought it would be very interesting to compile some information about some of the main website marketplaces since i'm extremely active in them. So, I had a script developed that crawls the content of some of the most active website marketplaces and grabs the sale price of each web property sold. I then took that information and created some average figures. After a period of time it should produce some very interesting results (when is the best time to sell a website, which website is the best to sell sites on etc). So, here are the results in order. 5 - TalkFreelance.com Total Prices: $33,526 Total Threads: 99 Average Price: $338.65 4 - NamePros.com Total Prices: $76,226 Total Threads: 196 Average Price: $388.91 3 - DNForum.com Total Prices: $58,848 Total Threads: 115 Average Price: $511.72 2 - DigitalPoint.com Total Prices: $1,748,623 Total Threads: 2729 Average Price: $640.76 1 - SitePoint.com Total Prices: $2,413,680 Total Threads: 511 Average Price: $4,723.44 There are a few notable things that are worth talking about in these results. Mainly the fact that both sitepoint and digitalpoint boasted 7 figures worth of sales last month which goes to show how healthy the current site flipping market is. I'll be compiling the same information every month and posting the results on my blog.
Nice research. Does that mean sitepoint has processed over 2 million in sales? That doesn't suprise me, their marketplace is great for selling websites.
