when querying a term, i noticed that some of the result urls include an affiliate id. this means that by entering organically to a website, you get an affiliate id cookie. very interesting, have someone seen this before?
It might not be the matter of affiliate links as some dynamically created pages like blogs might be indexed this way in the search engines but after a while and getting refreshed in the results, the fixed addresses will be seen.
I think you're seeing every day query params. I guess it could be possible that Google indexes links with affiliate IDs on them though. Have any specific examples ?
You mean to say you actually saw an affliliate id in the link in the serps? This is definitely news to me and I would surely want to have a look at what you have observed...if you can share the same ...though! Regards, RightMan
And you haven't shown us the specific example why ? If you're trying not to "bust" anyone, you might as well forget about that now. You've already spilled the beans. It doesn't matter what it "looks" like, it matters where it points, what the param name is, and whether the destination triggers our browsers cookie dialog.
shouldn't really be a shock honestly...if a link has a lot of sites pointing to it, and it's related (even affiliate) it will rank.
