I have one last question about BANS....according to their site, it's an ebay affiliate store, but it doesn't seem to mention anything about Amazon or CJ...does it support these as well, out of the box?
It uses CJ eBay affiliate links. You have to become a CJ member for BANS to work. eBay pays out 50% of their revenue on sales. This usually works out to 1-2% of the purchase price for higher ticket items. You get more depending on what auction features they bought (reserve price, featured plus, buy-it-now, gallery, templates, etc.). They increase your cut when you pass sales thresholds. Check out http://affiliate.ebay.com/ns/Payout.htm
thanks for that info...is there a similar site like BANS for Amazon? (or is that not worth it as much as CJ/eBay?)
Why is everyone raving about BANS???!! I assume you guys know that when you sign up as an Ebay affiliate you get access to the Ebay API.Its a simple process to knock a site together using the Ebay API and there you have your BANS site yet people pay good money for it!!! I see an opportunity here for anyone with a lttle knowledge...
Its only 97$ - sometimes people pay much more than that for just new WP blog or a static page(s) website..
That was said many times in many threads. It was given a free url with a basic php tutorial for accessing the ebay feed. If the person knows a little of php, that link solves the problem. After your answer i see you don't know this, so i'll say it again: Bans it's good for people who don't want to have more work or the ones who don't know php. And there're many many people who doesn't know php, and it's cheaper to buy bans instead of buying a programmer time.
Yeah; for me I did not want to build an ebay api access store, since it was practially already setup. The initial fee is next to nothing compared to the time I would take setting it up properly (and I am a quick coder). Just laziness on my part, and I wanted to give it a go around.
If you don't want to spend the money for BANS you can build a pretty clean looking site with Wordpress. I just put up a blog using Wordpress, granted I used Semiologic because I have had it for years but you can get a plain template like I used ANYWHERE. You will notice that I made the front page static with eBay auction feeds on the main content and then also on the sides. The ones in the content are from the eBay editir kit and the ones on the side are from a program I have. If you click on the blog link you will see that I have automated content coming from various RSS feeds including more eBay auctions with my affiliate ID embedded as well as articles and related news etc. Let me know what you think of this method: Webkinz To Buy Gregg
