How come nobody has commented about the new grey PR bars for pages that are not indexed and/or are in supplemental results? This is a major new change by Google and should be examined. People have just starticed to notice this a few days ago and here is some information to start http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/013333.html Changes are as follows: You build a new page: Old- Gets a white PR of 0 until it gets updated New- Gets a grey bar and until it gets updated you have no idea if the page you built is good enough to get indexed as a SERP, a supplemental SERP or ignored. How this effected me so far: I built a page last month and was hoping it would get nicely indexed. I looked today and it got stuck in supplemental with a grey tool bar. It is 90% unique content, 4 unique images and unique title bar. The link is one level below the index page so it is not deep in the site. Summary: Grey bar= Bad News you have not made something up to Googles standards. I hope this helps.
i suspect, this has nothing to do with PR. The simple logic is if the page is new it will have a Grey PR, so why worry about it? I dont agree that grey PR= supplemental results. That's a paranoid statement
I never said that it has anything to do with PR. I am saying that in the past, a page was automatically given a white bar. Now, a page is given a grey bar and you have to wait and see if you even make it to white. I have many pages on this last update that went from White PR 0 to Grey supplementals. There are 2 people in my office and they are reporting the same thing. Been doing SEO for 7 years here and this is something really unique and although might be not that important it should be examined and tested. I can confirm that all my supplementals have grey bars.
They have, you just didn't look as there is a few topics on it allready. It's a toolbar glitch, i got pages ranking #1 for quite competative 85 million plus result keyphrases and they are "gray PR" pages and definately not supp results.
I can think about this: since my subdomain is a shopping cart and had PR 4 from the beginning and now suddenly turned grey. Google may think that these kind of programs need to be forced to by traffic via adwords and so. The same may apply for blogs. They also want to make sure not to attract other businesses to use their PR for buy and sell links. Google wants it all.
I blogged it the other day .. Its nothing to worry about but I thought at the start it was to do with not being indexed but thats not the case.. PR is grey for "NEW" or "page not in the index" at the time of the PR update.. Simple as that.. Added a new blog yesterday with my addtional findings.. http://www.seohome.co.uk/2007/05/03/grey-pr-on-all-new-pages-even-after-being-indexed/ You can call it what u want .. Glitch etc.. But it is what it is a pr nothing..
Yeah I think "Pagerank" is most popular keywords on DP. Everyone talkinga bout it. After updates done People forgot it till next 3 months.
Don't forget about the "sandbox" for new sites. I have a new site that was cursed with a gray bar for the first two months until pagerank update. It's not a big deal, if it has some backlinks it'll change color on next update.
PR and SEO be damned. Content, content, content. Good quality, original content. If you have it, if you build it and a lot of it, you're golden. Sleep soundly. You're on the right track.
If so, then what was this forum created for ? Content discussions ? Have you ever heard of "search engine guidelines" , "link popularity" , "trust rank" , "domain age" and so on ?
