Very high bounce rate what can be done

Bounce rate high normally due to either the poor content quality or non-targeted traffic
If your major traffic source is from those traffic exchange (this will be the worst) or social network, the bounce rate normally will be higher compare to search engine traffic

 

Well it depends on your site. My site is an affiliate site so the bounce rate is high . The quicker they go to make a purchase the better for me...

 

I remarked for one of my site that depending on the website people are coming from to my site they seem to spend different amount of time on average. Thus, If you have google analytics, you can check out the time people spend after they come from different sites. Then, you could increase the amount of backlinks from the site that send you visitors that spend a lot of time on your site. For example, if google analytics shows you that on average the people who get to your site from ezine articles spend 2 minutes more on your site than those who come from youtube, you may want to increase the number of articles you have at ezine articles.
