Alexa is not a good way to measure bounce rate. Use Google analytics or a good stats software.

Usually if you have too many ads on the index page - they will bounce. It's better to have an enticing index page with just one ad and then have more ads on other pages.

Try to make the background white, because that is the most effective color. Improve the content of your website.

I would say, focus on defining your niche. Your site is like many other sites out there... what makes your site unique?

First of all reducing bounce rate check your Google analytics from which web page visitor exit and what is the problem with that page then you will get idea about that page and which changes do you need?

Visit top blogs & see how they engage their users with related headlines like "top 5 things.... " etc which encourages the user to visit other posts... Ofcourse your content has to be useful & not some PLR...

You should MAKE visitors to stay. They have very little patience, so try some interesting video, tool, poll - People like to vote, they like to see poll results and after they do - they will stay a little longer to check out your site.
Make some attracting title that they will see straight away, for example 10 things you never knew about....
These eye catching, intriguing little things can make a lot of difference!

People are not staying either because the content are poor or the traffic is not target. Write more content and focus on SEO. You will get better traffic when people visit from Google or other search engines.

If people are bouncing, it means your page is not fulfilling the needs of their search. Review the content of your page. Look at the keywords that are driving the traffic that is bouncing and modify your page accordingly

You could have a high bounce rate because visitors are not finding what they expect to find. Is your site targeted to the keyword it ranks for? Are you getting sales? A high bounce rate can be caused by an effective affiliate link, that causes visitors to click away quickly, which is a good thing, if it results in sales.

The one thing I noticed was you did not have a paragraph or 2 introduction on what the website was about and how to get the best out of it right at the top. I had a hard time figuring out what the site was all about.

I agree with everyone else better content, always use Google analytics. I would never reference Alexa for anything, besides rank

Read My Wife Quit Her Job blog, one of the site owner's blog covers bounce rate and Google Analytics. It's more than likely visitor is not able to find content which they're seeking on your site. Or your site doesn't serve their purpose for whatever it is they need or wanting to acquire (if your site is an ecommerce website).

A question: What is a normal bounce rate? Should a visitor be on a page for more than 2 minutes?
