Very basic news script

I'm creating a website for someone who has no knowledge of html, wedesign or anything related. But this person wants to be able to add small messages from time to time (e.g.: Store will be closed during the Holidays).

I'm looking for a script that will:
- create a page for the site owner to log in
- let the site owner type in his message
- this page should be userfriendly and very straight forward
- option for no message
- the message should appear at the location I created for it in the layout

I have checked newsticker and content management scripts but most or way too advanced and will confuse the owner of the site. So I'm looking for something really basic.

Why not let him FTP to a single page that you include with php include?

 

FTP and webpage editing is too confusing. I don't want him to download any software to edit this small part of his site.

It has to be userfriendly. An online userinterface would be perfect.
