Verifying paypal

    Hi,

Everyone knows that to verify paypal account with credit/debit card they will charge you $1.95 (they say they will refund after) and you need to enter that 4 digit expuse code.

Well, I've registered, then add credit card, just received credit card statement from the bank, enter that number and verified.

Problem is - do they really refund me that $1.95 ? Simply as you can understand there is no stored transactions, so only way to check is once again order statement from bank.

As well as it seems some $1 fee appears after that (and in that date when I charged $1.95) ... any thoughts ? At first I thought it for hosting or for domain, but hey...same date when I was charged $1.95 that verifiable fee.

And it appeared under blocked operations. wth ?

I don't care about amount, I just can't get how many suprisess will arive when I'll use paypal in future:rolleyes:

wish I could be more help

That was probably just an authorization charge to see if the card was "alive" or not.

Oh, thanks for letting me know! And who do you think charges that ? In statement it says that paypal. Can it be true (if so why they don't just tell they will do that, they already charged me $1.95) ? Or it can be domain name provider ? By the way, why they blocked that money ?

Simply I am really new to all that paypal thing and so far really surprised

The Authorization Charge as hav0c said is just to see if your credit card is real or not. This would be reversed to your account within the next 3 to 60 days depending on your bank.

Basically, this is the same effect when you register for a hotel room using a credit card, they will do an authorization charge for the whole amount of the room charges but they do not require you to sign and they do not submit that slip to claim for payment. It basically just to see if you have money. They could automatically reverse the charge thereby that amount is released in your account or you will need to wait for the authorization charge to expire.

Below is not Paypal but it should explain the situation http://www.giganews.com/faq.html#q3.16

I had my paypal verified using my credit card and was charge $1.95. I entered the code at my paypal account for verification thus I was verified. 3 days after verification, paypal returned the amount but not on my credit card but they put it on my paypal account. It was exactly the same amount. I have not encountered any problem with paypal so far.

Both hav0c and I have already answered this. If you have not read what we have posted, the $1 charge is just the authorization charge which many merchant do to check if your card is active and if it is a hotel, it is to check if you have sufficient funds. The $1 would go back to your account within the next few days but some banks may take up to 60 days for that to clear.

It is really nothing to worry about. It is not even a charge and usually banks do not even list it as a transaction.
