    Fellow webmasters and directory owners,

While revewing submitted sites, do you verify or try to "look into" its business legitimacy? What if a site that adheres to your directory guidelines is a scam!?

How do you make sure of the legimacy of a business that has little to no contact info or with a mere P.O. box? Checking state's business registration database is helpful but what about non-US sites?

I am not talking about editorial listings of government sites, established business sites, known blogs or purely informative sites but sites that "sell" some kind of product or services...

Australian businesses should have an ABN (Australian Business Number) that identifies them as a legitimate service. If it is a .com.au domain, they actually require you to have an ABN prior to registering the domain. That probably stops *some* of the scammers in my part of the world...
