Yep it's a phishing scam, ignore it. If gmail wanted users to "upgrade" I'm sure there would be a link or a popup asking you to "click to upgrade".
I didn't receive any message just like that when I create my gmail account. I think it was another scammer who loves destroying a good mail
you know its a scam when asked to provide crudentials like that lol edit: and i've always wanted to email back with fake info just to piss them off but i shouldn't, not sure what they would do to me afterwards
