Why do online stores in the US like overstock.com and buy.com reject non-US based Paypal accounts though they are verified Paypal accounts? I have always wanted to buy from these stores. What else can I do? My Paypal is not based in the U.S.
The merchant decides from which countries to accept payments. The merchant can have many reasons not to accept international sells to mention few currency conversion, shipment, fraud, etc. However, you can try other way around to handle payments to such sites, may be using third party business or using other payment methods other than PayPal.
Actually I doubt the Paypal account has anything to do with your transaction being rejected. Some stores only ship to the US or to a selected number of countries. Overstock.com ships to the US, Canada and several countries in Europe. See https://help.overstock.com/cgi-bin/overstock.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1505#1 Buy.com only ships to the US only http://www.buy.com/corp/support/shipping/shipping_faqs.asp Both do not ship to PO Boxes or other countries.
My shipping destination is within the United States, so there should be no problem with that. And it is not a PO Box Address; it's an apartment address. They don't just accept Paypal if it is not verified in the U.S.
To ship to a US address, you need a US Paypal account. Otherwise it could be an avenue for fraud. Put yourself in the seller's shoes, how would the transaction look like to you where someone claims to be from the US and ask you to ship there but their paypal account reflects another country? If you are from the US, why do not opt for a non-US paypal account in the first place ?
Yea I agree with that ,Overstock ,build there own rule and they have a freedom not to accept your purchased and instead of using Verified credit card "online "the credit card that you usually use to buy offline I think that would be works,I means not with over stock ,but with "any stock offline that is available at your country"
