Verification of email confirmation... email doesnt reach the user??

I m runnin a website in which i hve recently made confirmation of email after registration compulsory but around 50% of my members are not receiving the confirmation email or are receving it after two to three days.. and quite a few r findin the verificaition mail in ther spam folder.. i m missing out on lot of users becoz of this ..plz help???

 

Delays in sending sound like an SMTP server issue or an issue with their receiving POP/ IMAP server and one for your webhosts to deal with.

Spam folder is a common issue for system generated emails, there are a few things you can do to help yourself in terms of ensuring you are setting a genuine sender email address, avoid certain words in the copy or title (eg things about viagra). Other than that you could ask your hosting provider if they are using domain keying (a method of assuring that the email has come from the mail server associated with the domain and isnt spoofed) or you could use one of the third party mail components that give you much more control over the email headers to get a better rate of getting through spam filters.

The quick solution is also to tell them to check their spam folder.
