Based on his post here on digitalpoint, I downloaded MSN chat and discussed with him his requirement of writing articles for his site. We chatted for more than 30 minutes and he seemingly interested ( name: Liam ) asked me to write 3 articles for start for his website http://www.sed-television.com/ on SED TVs Cost, SED Technology etc at SED technology news for $15 an article. But now that I am done with his article, he is no more responding to my PMs and emails and IMs. I always give people the benefit of doubt and assumed he was busy. But I see that he is regularly posting messages here at DP. And I have already sent him multiple PMs even asking him to tell me if he is not interested. So there is no way he is not getting my PMs. And so I am concluding that his intentions are not good. Atleast tell me you do not need the articles. For content writers, once the article is written, if he does not pay, I lose time and money as the article is already done and what am I going to do with articles on SED televisions. This is one challenge we have to work with and secondly I think we have to stop trusting people. Posting this message so that you all learn from my experience too. I have learnt not to trust people.
Well, This is not really good of the buyer. You can give him a negetive itrader if there is a thread of his here. Also, try going for advance payments, either half or full. But promise to deliver on time and also not to do what has happened to you this time. Probably, the buyer got the work done from somewhere else or he did himself or he changed the mind of getting articles done. Please tell us the username of the person so that we can be aware of such scam.
Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I'm curious to know this person's username as well; we writers have to look out for one another. As for the articles you wrote, you could try seeing if Associated Content will take them. They buy articles on just about any subject imaginable. They pay anywhere from $3 to $40, but it's usually in the $5 to $10 range. At least get something for your efforts.
As i mentioned in the title, his username is venturefox ( http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=28807) Thread where he was asking for articles : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=168421 ... check "Please PM me with a few samples of your work and an AIM or MSN contact. If you dont have one of the above messenger programs I will not accept you." I did not like starting a thread on this .. but I thought it was necessary. People should not misuse DT ... its a great forum and people should be able to trust each other to an extent. As far as negative feedback is concerned, I plan to leave one for him but again I do not know if theres anything to prevent him from leaving a negative feedback for me .. just as a retaliation.
Now I see the username, sorry...I blame it on lack of sleep. Posting your experience was a brave thing to do, and on behalf of all the writers here, I thank you for it. As for this person retaliating against you by giving you a negative iTrader feedback, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If I see a negative iTrader for someone, I always look at their posts, too. It helps me get a sense of whether or not they really deserved that negative feedback.
