Vendors, How to stop cookie setters???

Discussion in 'ClickBank' started by floodrod, May 21, 2008.

A new vendor popped up in the recent months launching negative campaigns directly against my clickbank store. This is OK, as I accept competition, and his attempts just help brand my name, but he is setting cookies for my clickbank products without sending visitors.

How do I block this? I could block his IP from referring visitors, but I don't think it will do much because the Hoplink points to Clickbanks servers.

    ANy suggestions?

He is using a JAVA script on his Clickbank sales page that sets a cookie for my store. He never sends a real visitor to my store, nor does he have any active links to my store, but he sets thousands of cookies so he gets credit anytime any of his past visitors naturally find my products and buy.

My counter shows the visits, but not one of the JAVA Scripted setted cookie visits ever gets clicked past 1 page.

It's just frustrating watching my overall conversion ratios plummet from bogus cookies

Notify Clickbank. It is against Clickbank's terms to open hoplinks in
invisible ways for the purpose of creating cookies.

Notification would be the prudent action. You may want to record all conversations (keep records/archives of emails and phone calls) with CB.

It sounds like this person is trying to get you banned.

This is horrible Flood - I feel for you. Here is what I recommend.

    1. Save his sales page so you have a local record of it.
    2. Break it down to simplistic terms and approach CB with your fingings (competitor is cookie stuffing xxx times a day) they will have a hayday with him.
    3. Don't worry about the overall conversion/hops - I have aff's send me bux traffic at xxxx per hour sometimes with no conversions and the same results as you (bung stats).
    4. I don't think you can get banned as the post above states - especially if you document it well.

Good luck to you, keep us posted - would be funny to watch him get taken down for this, karma is a b.....
