Vendors: How do you "exactly" create a buyer's list?

I use AWeber together with Ejunkie and Paypal.

Aweber can be integrated with Ejunkie and paypal and when a customer buy they get automatically added to a new list,
    BUT,
The customer will get a confirmation email to confirm he wants to be added to the new list. AWeber told me that you CANNOT remove the confirmation email and that every time you add a subscriber from a third party service (like paypal or ejunkie) they must send the confirmation email out.

    So,
    - John Smith is on my list A.

    - John Smith buys my product A.

    - He get a confirmation email that says: hey John Smith, since you've already bought A how about you move to list B so I can sell you B as well?

Given that for paypal terms and conditions you cannot tell the customer to "confirm" their email in order to download the product after they have bought it, because that would be lying, my question is:

What do you write in the confirmation email your customer receives to get subscribed to the buyer's list?

or how do you add them?

For my business my paypal will redirect to a thank you page. This will tell them that details of their download have been sent to their paypal email address - and to check their inbox. And it will give them the details of my support contact details.

Often this email is different than their original subscriber email so you have to be very clear about this or your customers can get easily confused and complain that they have not received their product.

For the confirmation email I usually title this as "Thank you for your purchase - Here is your Product X download"

Within the body it will tell them to click the link to receive their download and to confirm that they are indeed the intended recipient. This will automatically send them to the download page or sales funnel.

I have had no complaints or problems from paypal using this method and have been doing it for years.
If you have bought many online products you will see that this is standard practice amongst many marketers.

    Thanks for your reply Paul.
So basically you send a thank you email with the confirmation link.
And when they click on the confirmation link they get sent to the download page.

Where do you host the download page? Is it on your site?

    The problem is:
With ejunkie, download links are personalized and they expire. You don't have one download link for everyone but a different download link for each buyer so I can't send them always to the same download page.

What would you do in my case?

HI Joe, unfortunately, I am not familiar with ejunkie so I can't offer any advice there without using google :)
For aweber you would choose a custom URL for your confirmation page. I would host this on my own site.

It is a good idea to make sure this page is not indexed in anyway. I would also use a unique URL not simply yoursite.com/download - you could use yoursite.com/download2437043 or something like this to give you some basic security.

Obviously, there are better methods but they are more complex and this will do for beginners.

    Well, thanks for your help.
Hopefully someone with more ejunkie experience will contribute to this thread :)
