I would like to know what people at digital point think about doing web marketting using the vehicle lettering if the website you have is aimed at the local market? I am planning to do vehicle lettering on my car (its not a van or pickup). Do you think it is effective ? Please let me know your views. Thanks,
From all kind of offline advertising IMO the best are Billboards. For me Vehicle Lettering should be very good designed ... to take a look, but as i see in my sity it is usually some words, comapny name, web URL, ... no design...
I know that if you have a catchy URL, and put it on a billboard, people will visit the website. In a city near here, there is a billboard that is solid red, then in the middle all it says in plain white lettering is "IAMNOTSUPERWOMAN.COM". I visited the site. It's for a church group or something.
If i see a url placed on a car or van i'm going to visit that site when i get home. But the url must be short or catchy otherwise i forget it Not only because i wanna see the site but also because i just saw the face (webmaster) behind that site so i'm curious to see if that site is any good Didier
Thank you guys who responded. But what about others, come on!!! Online marketting is not the only thing, you got to do some offline marketting as well, otherwise you are losing quite a bit. Reply to this post and let's make some good polling!
I think Billboards are indeed very effective when it comes to offline marketing. Vehicle lettering can be very effective if it's attractive, strategically placed and the url is short and easy to remember.
Unless I had a catchy url, I would probably go for flyers, simply because you can get much more info on a flyer than on a billboard. I would also think billboards are quite expensive in comparison to other advertising methods. Advertising on your own car on the other hand is cheap and worth a try.
billboards are very expensive when compared to your car lettering. Let me know how this goes, im thinking of doing a similar thing.
Yeah but you gotta understand that offline marketing is usually not that effective as it is online and it is most of the time very expensive To get 1000 targetted visitors via the internet to your site you need around $50 (sometimes less, sometimes more) but can you reach 1000 (targetted) people who will actually look at your site for that same amount when you advertise offline? It's hard. Didier
I'll preface my statements here with, "It all depends on the market you are trying to reach". Here is my take on these advertising mediums. Vehicle Lettering -- Always a good idea, can't hurt. Just be sure to keep it looking nice and not all chipped up. Flyers -- Works wonderfully if you are in a small town or tight community. Otherwise this advertising medium will get you a whole lot of exercise but not much return. Again, think!!! who are you targeting! Traffic Signs -- Use only in high traffic corners. Think!! COLOR COLOR COLOR Studies have show that a STRONG yellow background (not some pastel) with a black letterring is most eye catching. Again, the same goes as with the vehicle lettering. Be ready to replace your signs often as they will be stolen or trashed by people or weather. Billboards -- If you are going to spend the $$$$ for this kind of advertising (Printing, posting, and maintaining) you had better have a helluva return on that product. Many people traveling down interstates are too focues to remember a web url UNLESS it is already a well known name or the bill board is very catchy. I used to work for a billboard company and we saw a lot of "little companies" come and go because they didn't get the return they needed for that type of advertising medium. Hope that helps you clarify a bit of your thoughts regarding what advertising medium to work with. Eric
what type of site? Have you thought about yard signs? That would work good for a local site. Get family and friends to post signs in their yards.
This site about the local classifieds in various cities of Canada. So I think targetting local market might be better idea, what do you say?
You could spend $40 on a license plate frame. I believe I have gotten a 0% return on that investment, and I drive all of the time in a busy city.
Honestly, it doesn't interest me enough to remember it. I guess if I was actually thinking about internet classified, maybe. I seriously doubt I could remember it though if I was jsut passing a sign. On a car in front of me in traffic, I might. But realistically, unless the url was short and interesting or strange, Im not remembering no matter how relevant it may be to me.
I think lettering on cars would work best if your site is related to car enthusiasts and the lettering was on nice cars.
