What is everyone's choice for web graphics graphics? I like the scalability of vector graphics, but you just can't get detailed artwork for logos and such.
Banners and logos, probably vector graphics. Main content and complicated graphics, definitely bitmap.
I work in vector and then convert them to bitmaps for web use. Vector allows much quicker precision in your layouts and you achieve almost any effect you can in bitmap using vector - it just needs a bit of technical knowledge.
I guess I don't really have any experience with vector graphics. I may have to play with them some more and see what I can do. Can you do shading, like gradients or shadows?
Yeah - you can do every kind of gradient and shadows in Illustrator. Some things are a little more complicated than Photoshop, but the fact that you can instantly scale any element to any size without losing quality is a major plus point.
A bitmap image uses a grid of individual pixels where each pixel can be a different color or shade. Bitmaps are composed of pixels.
Vector is useful only for logos, because we need them in different size. other stuffs normal graphics is good.
bitmap is good for web design, because we don't need scalability. Bitmap is good for creating textures also.
Vector graphics are more suitable for illustration and logo design. But that doesnt mean you cant create detailed graphics with it. Try googling 'realistic vector art' to get some idea.
On the web-- are vector graphics widely supported? I like vector graphics for design work-- I then convert the final graphic to png [bitmap] format and port to the web. I only design graphics as related to web work.. Q...
Vectors is definitely better.. you can stretch out the graphic and image.. no Loss of quality, no blown up pixels.
I also like vector graphics because its never pixel ate even i also design logo on illustrator because its best software to create vector graphics.
