I'm researching on buying VPS hosting but i came across sites selling VDS hosting. Is there a difference between these two types of hosting?? Thanks
The 2 terms are often regarded the same...though some companies present them as different setups in their own offerings. Ritu, I'd love to see your pic instead of the dog in your avatar
Actually when the virtualization process is done using the Virtuozzo Software then hosters call it vps (Virtual Private Server). But when they do it using some software like vmware or Microsoft Virtualization Software then they call it VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server). But it really doesn't matter cause in both of them you will get shared environment on a virtually dedicated solution.
Yeah, there is no difference between the two. Both the terms Virtual Private Server(VPS) and Virtual Dedicated Server(VDS) are one and the same and are used interchangeably.
