There is a question I am thinking about for a long time. A VCC is also a credit card just that it is virtual in nature. Why is it that I saw so many threads saying that their Paypal, Ebay and whatever got limited because they are using VCC? Is there any problem and difference between VCC and normal credit cards in terms of legitimacy?
Most likely because the VCC doesn't correlate with the PayPal account holders personal information. PayPal's fraud system checks certain factors to determine legitimacy and if it can't verify the VCC account info to the account holders, the account will probably become limited. The best way to prevent that is to just use a bank issued debit card (free) or a credit card.
Does it mean that there is basically nothing wrong with VCC just that the users using VCC fake their information?
There's no problem with them, but they shouldn't be used for account verification IMO since you could get your account limited at any time. Fake information seems to be a common thing on here used alongside a VCC but neither is a good idea to use.
Thanks for the advice, was curious to find so many Paypal limited thingy, at least now I have a clearly picture. In this case, really can't say that it is Paypal's fault. More of fake information giving the problems. Is there those who use the correct VCC information with Paypal and yet get limited?
You can use your correct information while using a VCC and still get limited. The reason behind that would be because of the verification. If they don't match then there's a problem.
The reason that Paypal requires you to use a Credit Card for verification is because a Credit Card is issued by the bank and the bank would inevitably perform several checks as to the card holder authenticity, ie name and address checks as while as checks on creditworthiness. By trusting your bank, it makes the verification process simple. As for VCC, most of the VCC being offered here are offered by Indians because one of the Indian Bank - HDFC Bank Limited offers a service for its banking customers and that is the Netsafe account ( http://www.hdfcbank.com/personal/payments/netsafe.htm ). The Netsafe account allows the card user to generate one time usage credit card numbers for online purchase so as to protect against fraud. Since the Netsafe numbers are one time use and are anonymous, some enterprising Indian took advantage of this service to offer DP members the generated Netsafe VCC numbers to verify their Paypal account. However, this technically is in breach of the HDFC Bank policy and also does not achieve the very purpose of verification of the Paypal accounts. Verification if you know is the process of using a 3rd party to certify that the provided information is correct. However VCC does not belong to the DP Members who purchase this numbers and it does not come with an address or anything. In fact, the ones who sell the VCC does not even verify the identity of the purchaser and they only care about getting their money. So if you look into it, it is actually wrong to use such VCC but then again those who sells VCC or buys them does not care about what is right and wrong just as long as they can get their way. VCC, IMHO, does allows people to propagate fraud over Paypal because of the anonymity and it allows them to pretend to be from any country they want and provide fake details so as to make them untraceable. I see that ever since VCC has been introduced, the level of fraud over at Paypal has increased. Ever since I known about VCC, I stopped using Paypal to receive funds because there is no way to determine if any one is really verified or telling the truth about themselves. To me, trust is very important when dealing online especially with money.
thanks eddy for sharing the info.... i hope this will teach others not to use a VCC.... and i know that since VCC's are introduced paypal is full of frauds and scammers... scamming merchants... anyway i think your post should be made sticky by admins so that everyone can read it before using a VCC...
Thanks Eddy for great information. I am VCC verified user of PayPal Since Jan. 2007 and I don't have any problems even card was expired in June 2007. Still I am Verified user and have no limits.
The truth about vcc is that it is neither legal nor illegal . I have been selling it for sometime now . Its actually a loophole which these companies (ebay , adwords etc) have not been able top plug yet . Legality or illegality of vcc is questionable as of now .
When I try to used my VCC to verify my PayPal >>>>> Not process. Coz, PayPal not knowing the bank whos issued the VCC. So, I'm back to use US Bank Account services that give me a free Visa ATM Card. This card can use for verify to PayPal acc.
So you are also opening up 1000 days old threads and replying to whatever related posts to promote your USA Bank account services? Don't you think that those who posted 3 years ago may no longer be needing what they were asking then?
VCC and limiting don't have anything much in common . Happens when paypal doubts the legit meter of the user. More people use VCC, so more people with VCC get limited.
In usa you can get virtual cards from a grocery store that you can put personal info like name, adress etc. on the card when you create and can upload money onto. If you use these with a usa proxy you will have a verified paypal account, plus you will need a usa telephone number which I can get as well. If this is something people would be needing please pm me, I am considering offering this as a service if it is needed across the world.
I have seen web sites selling USA bank accounts with VCC, is that considered legit? Or does it still fall into the grey area?
