vBulletin, Worth Upgrading?

    Hello.

I have a computer and webmaster forum at www.computalk.net with almost 4000 posts now and it runs MyBB.

I like MyBB but I think vBulletin is better, you get what you pay for.

Do you think it is worth me upgrading to vBulletin? and if so then do you think I should get a leased or owned license?

    Thanks
    Calum

vBulletin is defiantly worth it. If you can afford it, go with an owned license. It will save you $$$ in the long run.

Ok thanks, do you think I would be better off buying a fresh new owned license or trying to find one for sale here or at other forums?

Well, what are your plans for your forum once you get vBulletin?

I just want it to keep expanding. I hope to basically relaunch the forum.

I am going to hire a designer to create a logo, mabye also to create a free one or I will buy one or get a free one.

You don't have to relaunch the forum - you can easily transfer everything on over to vBulletin's db structure.

One question, does the vB ImpEx support MyBB? I don't believe it does, and if you do relaunch the forums you may lose some respect, but I guess it is to the better. I personally manage a vB forum and couldn't be more happy with it :)

Yes, I believe it does. If it doesn't, then you can ask vBulletin's support staff how it can be done.

I have asked vB support already and they say it does, it can import everything, users, permissions, posts and more.

I want to have a sort of relaunch. It will keep all the members and posts but will have a new design, new layout, new sections and aimed more at webmasters.

That's good then. Focus on the relaunch then. Try to build traffic that way, exchange posts, and try to send out a mass mail and bring everyone back.

That's great, I wasn't aware that the ImpEx plugin supported MyBB, that's great! Good luck on your upgrade :)

Great, good to hear! :) By the way, I believe there's a few modifications available that might become handy for a computer forum.
