vBulletin vs IPB

    Can anyone please refer or tell me his own expirience with vBulletin and IPB based forums,which one is performing better and loads the server less ?

    Anyone has a forum with 1 GB+ database and which server config do you have ?

    Well from what I have seen at http://www.big-boards.com/ the biggest forums don't use IPB. They are on either vBulletin, phpBB or something custom coded.

    I've got several 5-10GB forums on one server. I use vbulletin for all of them. I've tried ust about all of the mainstream forum packages out there and have stuck with vbulletin.

    Vbulletin all the way. Lots of plugins/support and it's very stable

    I feel the same way as Check. IPB isn't horrible, but if your going to pay, might as well use VB.

    Definately Vbulletin..Awesome custom support moerover active mods community.It is alooot better then invision.

    I use dual core opterons to server up everything. It's all about the my.cnf and httpd.conf settings.

    You must have optimzied yru settings a lot to handle a few 5-10 GB forums on such a server..

    Vbulletin :) easy to use, Customize, great added on at vb.org so i would go with Vbulletin :)

    i administer a vB forum but I have used both IPB & vB just as a personal user. I prefer vB from teh usage standpoint, but I have not administered IPB. And back when I researched what forum s/w I wanted to personally go with, it was vB that I chose, I think mainly because there were more vB forums in existance plus it seemed more secure at the time... oh and I needed something I could integrate into Joomla too, so I chose vB of those two.

    Definately Vb according to performance.If you run both boards you will see quite difference in loading time.VB loads alot faster then IPB!
